Bridging the Digital Divide

Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

The pandemic added another critical need to under-served children: Internet access. With mobility severely restricted, the digital literacy required to access learning and job skills over the Internet has become a critical skill.

Our focus right now is to promote digital literacy by providing Internet-enabled devices to under-served children

BookStorm is partnering with Cada Familia Cuenta [CFC North Monterey www.cadafamiliacuenta.org] to address the urgent, critical need for Internet-enabled digital devices faced by the children of the migrant farming community of the unincorporated N. Monterey County School District, whose parents are essential workers in our food supply chain. The North Monterey Country School District serves 4,600 K-12 children. 85% of these children live in high poverty and lack books and Internet -enabled digital devices to continue learning.

We urgently need Internet-enabled digital devices to support literacy at home for the children in this district. The graduating high school seniors of this school district and their families need continued access to the Internet to further their education and gain job skills. With over 4,600 children in the school district, we would greatly appreciate all the help we can get to promote digital literacy for these children.

Computers (laptops, ipads, mobiles, wifi gear) were donated by Bookstorm

BookStorm recently ran a children's fair with CFC for the children of this District. We donated over a thousand books, art and craft supplies and puzzles. Every single item was claimed.

Please see the Donate tab above for how you can help us support literacy in the North Monterey County School District. Every donation will help a child in need.
